Do No Evil – I have been watching this series of interviews for a while now. The link/attached story is tonights installment. I found this one interesting. Some great thoughts on how the US should deal with other cultures.
Wow, that was pretty cool. Knowing that the young people are really thinking this through and wanting something different that what we have had, and willing to register to vote in an attempt to do something about it....good for them.
Brilliant statement N2N! The only way to affect change is to do something different than what has been done before. How are you? =D
Some things most people choose to ignore. The president is one person. The cumbersome bureaucracy we have precludes rapid change. There is also a difference between the thinking when you are on the outside and after the election when the briefings begin. Then you find that you are stuck with the stupidity that went before.
They are definitely a little naive. But that is good. We should be naive at that age. LOL
They do make some sense though. I hope they retain that spirit as they grow older and see the things in this world.
Good one gm.
No, they are not naive. The rest of us are inflexible. I share your hope for them though that they do not become rigid, old fogey's.

LOL
Call it as you see it. When I was their age I was put in harms way. I don't think I was rigid. Just a little more knowledgeable about the evils of government leaders. On both sides of the arguement.
Now there are to me certain leaders that you can't converse with to get results. They only understand power. Most will listen and respond to reason in some fashion. But not all.
I disagreed with much of what was brought up by the students. Well, even students have different perspectives. I just hope that the rest of my generation isn't as socialistic as it seems some times (I didn't really notice that attitude among these kids, which is good) because I really would rather not see the United States take that path... something a bit closer to modern liberalism or progressivism is more to my liking then socialism.
I would have to say, that the next generation is the hope for the future. It appears that they are open to dialog with percieved enemies of the west....I see this as a step in the right direction. I believe there are young people in other countries as well that would prefer dialog over bombs.
There is way to much misunderstanding of other cultures on both sides of the equation. Governments and media are partially responsible for pounding ideas and images of other cultures into our heads over many years. Definitions of liberalism...conservatism..or socialism sometimes get distorted. One persons view of socialism may differ from another's. I see this on threads all the time when Canada's healthcare system is mentioned.
In summary....some of these kids can see the future and are willing to take a chance to make a difference. Others just want to follow the old road map to self destruction.
I saw the end of a Glenn Beck interview with Netanyahu the other night, and it struck me that I actually felt sorry Netanyahu. He goes around telling us what is the correct way in which the world should work. The guy is typical of many, Christian, Jew, Muslim; he could go to every corner of the world and take away nothing. He is so convinced that his way is the only way.
