Netscape's New Orleans Voices - Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews

Music – "Trombone Shorty" was a band leader by age 6. Now 21, he leads his "funky jazz" band, Orleans Avenue, as they carry the flag heralding the next generation of sounds from The Big Easy. Meet Shorty as he introduces us to his hometown neighborhood, Treme, the oldest Black neighborhood in America.

Here is some information about the neighborhood, Treme, as well as a short history on wikipedia of the area near Treme known as Congo Square, the only place in America where slaves were allowed to gather.

Oh my goodnes, luv, were you at Tipitina's the night he played??? I was there!!! I do know that he played a couple of other clubs during Mardi Gras as well, though, and YES! everyone should check out jazzfest. As Luv says, the lineup is incredible!

I love it! N.O. has a unique feel. Like no other place.

I was there about 15 years ago. Music is powerful, and N.O. is all about music. They'll keep goin'! Great video!
