Feb. 24, 2007, 11:56 p.m.Yeah right. AT&T, Microsoft, Verizon, Comcast. They're all our friends. They just want us to have the maximum content, which we have now under net neutrality. And after they legally eliminate net neutrality through their millions of dollars in lobbying, they ONLY use their control to give us MORE choice, not to enhance their profits and limit our information flow.

Where will you find differing points of view? Where will you find news you wouldn't know about otherwise? HELLO! Is anyone home there? Feb. 25, 2007, 3:05 a.m.I don't think people are getting what's going on here. Without network neutrality, if you have AT&T DSL, but AT&T doesn't like say, AOL. You WILL NOT be able to get on Netscape. Without network neutrality, the Internet companies can block your access to blogs, youtube, search engines, email, whatever they want. . unless you pay them more. There's all kinds of things that they could do, but the one that scares me the most is that they will control what you see. The Internet won't be open anymore.

Feb. 25, 2007, 3:42 a.m.You know what, I am a product of having basically any info I choose to find at my call at any given time. So to me the internet is a source of free entertainment (from those that publish such stuff; like me), art forms (I wouldn't have it any other way), music (I create that too), plus anything else that others have allowed to be free. Plus the varied amount of sites that you do have to pay for and those are also in the aforementioned fields and beyond. They want full control? They had better have EVERY hacker, cracker, and coder under control too because these types of people dislike what you are about to create. Also this can't happen without money...you have money ok build a site and multiply it. If people like what they have seen or heard they will still pay to see it while you'd get more viewers for free. Basically they want to get rich quick and leave us broke to pay for all and any info? How about this you phone companies, call me and find out my real thoughts. It's that simple!

If it wasn't stopped for the other three outlets of mass communication why delude yourself that it will some how be different this time? The thin veneer of rights has been stripped away layer by layer. The psuedo arguments of protection for personal safety, national security, intellectual property etc. have been applyied layer by layer through legislation, law enforcement, and fear mongering. Feb. 25, 2007, 1:48 p.m.i do not believe this i am a interscope ceo and we have great intrests with viacom cablevision at&t and verizon all they do is commercilize and edit programs they dont makeit private THEY CANT PERIOD
but they will make it more social and a littile bit comfortable for the person to use and alot of these isues are for saftey of the people such as scams hacking and children watching adult content

Feb. 25, 2007, 3:33 p.m.I don't know whom I find more infuriating; those who brazenly dismiss this as propaganda or those who accept what they deem "inevitable."
First of all, get a clue: this is not propaganda; this is a very real concern for everyone who uses the internet. If huge internet-based businesses, like EBAY, are concerned, YOU should be, too.
And it's not something new; this debate has been raging for some time now -- EDUCATE yourself and quit thinking that if YOU "don't know about it, it must not be real."
And I'm certainly not going to believe the patronizing platitudes of someone who actually WORKS for the people who are wanting to do this. Again, just because you're not "IN" on it, doesn't mean it's not happening.
PLEASE WRITE YOUR REPRESENTATIVES AND MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD.
Or just keep mocking those of us who actually care.
If this ends badly, we won't have the heart -- OR THE MEANS -- to say, "We told you so."

Especially if it was taken away by American phone companies.

How'd the whiskey rebellion end? What about Daniel Shay's march to Springfield? Abolitionist Brown's revolt at Harper's ferry? Nat Turner's uprising?
Do you know about phone phreaking's begining as a protest to Vietnam? MacArthur's attack on WWI vets During Coolidge's Presidency?
If the histories of these uprisings, some much more noble than the almighty dollar, don't point the way that any significant "fight" will fail then remember you can't fight city hall.
