Geekly Reader - "Red Planet" by Robert A. Heinlein

Books – Red Planet is a great example of Golden Age Science Fiction and is a very well told adventure story. I believe it is an excellent book to share with your kids, especially young boys. It can also be the catalyst for a teaching moment, illustrating how far we have come in planetary science in the last six decades.

Cooler weather helping firefighters contain Butte County fires

News – Firefighting crews say cooler weather has allowed them to gain the upper hand on the Butte County wildfires, although they're not yet ready to declare the fight won. Large areas of the burned region remain evacuated as a precaution, but the fire is now 65 percent contained and no additional homes have burned.
