News – Lt. Fred Swain, the commander of the Utah Highway Patrol's drunken driving unit, has been ticketed for driving under the influence after crashing his police cruiser into a concrete barrier. Swain's blood-alcohol level was nearly 0.12 percent.

Among the 81 deaths believed to be caused by the heat statewide since July 16, 20 are in Fresno County.
