S Korea head proposes law change

News – South Korean President Roh Moo-Hyun has proposed amending his country's constitution to allow future heads of state to seek a second term in office. He suggested cutting the presidential term from five to four years, and allowing incumbents to seek re-election to serve a maximum of eight years.

Science – Scientists believe they have found a way to block the supply of nutrients to cancer tumours. Researchers mimicked the action of blood cells known as platelets by creating tiny nanoparticles to create clots to stop blood getting to tumours.

Kenya refuses to take runner back

News – The United Nations' refugee body has appealed for $60m (Ã;£30.8m, 45m euros) in emergency aid for those fleeing violence in Iraq. One in eight of Iraqis have now left their homes, with up to 50,000 people leaving each month, the UNHCR said.

News – MALIBU, Calif. (AP) -- A fire fanned by Santa Ana winds burned three structures, possibly oceanview homes, as it spread over two acres in the celebrity enclave Monday, authorities said.
