Scout shead

Me, I'm Steve Head. I co-created the movie news website IGN Filmforce, which is now IGN movies, and that's where much of my writing goes. There, we essentially live and breathe news and interviews. From 1997 to 2000 I was co-editor of TheForce.net - your daily Star Wars news. I've also written for The Boston Phoenix. I do marketing promotions for The Brattle Theater (http://brattlefilm.org) here in Cambridge, MA. And I'm Editor in Chief of the Boston publication Beanywood.com.

The Bond Dossier: What We Know About Quantum of Solace

Movies – Casino Royale pulled Bond out of fanboy hearts and made him relevant (and desirable) across all demographics. 500 bucks says you would've been hard-pressed to find more than five women in the opening night crowd for The World Is Not Enough. Here's what we know to date and our take on Quantum of Solace and what guys and gals will be lining up for.

Oscar candidates lagging this year

Movies – As of Monday, the year was at the halfway mark, so in theory, the 2008 awards race is half over. Not a chance. The past six months have offered fewer potential contenders than any January-June period in memory.

Bull Durham turns 20

Movies – Durham native Thom Mount was the boy wonder of Universal Pictures, becoming its president in 1976 at the preposterous age of 26. He survived in the job for seven years and has survived as an independent producer since. His producing career has been erratic, to say the least, but Bull Durham, his biggest success, was very big indeed.

Documentary tells full story of Hunter S. Thompson

Books – Of course, there were the drugs. And the drinking. And guns. And more drugs. Given his notorious lifestyle, it can be hard to keep in mind that Hunter S. Thompson was first and foremost a writer, a frontline chronicler of the promise and adventure of the 1960s and the burnout and aftermath of the 1970s.

How to mind your movie manners

Do No Evil – Is there any moviegoer who hasn't been annoyed by noisy popcorn-munchers, gossiping teenagers, crying babies, snoring patrons, compulsive seat-kickers, morons with laser pointers or loudmouths who insist on providing a running commentary?

Del Toro: The Marvelous Monster Machine

Movies – Rotund, chatty and cerebral, Guillermo del Toro seems the embodiment of the expression, "it's never too late to have a happy childhood." The Mexican filmmaker is on the campaign trail to promote "Hellboy II" and he clearly relishes the prospect.
