Scout shead

Me, I'm Steve Head. I co-created the movie news website IGN Filmforce, which is now IGN movies, and that's where much of my writing goes. There, we essentially live and breathe news and interviews. From 1997 to 2000 I was co-editor of TheForce.net - your daily Star Wars news. I've also written for The Boston Phoenix. I do marketing promotions for The Brattle Theater (http://brattlefilm.org) here in Cambridge, MA. And I'm Editor in Chief of the Boston publication Beanywood.com.

For Movies, a Summer That's Shy on Sequels

Movies – Hollywood's summer movies promise to be a little fresher, more original and funnier than usual. And that could be a problem for an industry that has done well lately by peddling the familiar.

Film Criticism: A spectator sport

Movies – I guess I should head off the e-mails seeking my annual report from Cannes: It can be found this year at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Sadly, the crap economy has pretty much wiped out my freelance income since January, to the point where for the first time since 1997 I may have to go out and get myself an actual job.

indie movies vs. Indy's movie at Cannes

Movies – The Cannes Film Festival usually starts with a movie that's light and goes down easy. So Wednesday's dark, apocalyptic opening film seemed a puzzling choice ââ;¬" even to the movie's director.
