News – Starbucks and a local restauranteur are in competition for a rare space that just opened on the historic Jackson Square in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans. Jennifer Jordan thinks it would be unacceptable for Starbucks to move into this internationally known location and could damage the historic Cafe du Monde less than a block away.

Music – I got an exclusive interview with the up and coming local rock band Lovehog. We discuss the history of the band and listen to some of their songs. The play a bluesy, rock-n-roll (kind of a Stevie Ray Vaughn style) with heavy classic guitar riffs, harmonica, and saxophone.

News – This year marks the first time online content is allowed in entries for the Pulitzer Prize. Walt Handelsman of Newsday is said to be a finalist for the Editorial Cartooning prize for an entry that includes Adobe Flash content. I interviewed him about his entry.

Television – Local cable company Cox Communications and local CBS affiliate WWL tv just barely made an agreement before midnight last night to allow CBS to be on cable for another 30 days in New Orleans and allow us to see teh Super Bowl on cable tv. Hint, its an HDTV argument.
