Gadgets & Tech – But--- I think I have stumbled upon something amazing. I will be installing this next week, and experimenting to let you know how it goes. I have discovered Gentoo.

Gadgets & Tech – I found Penumbra Overture well worth the meager asking price of 19.99 USD.

Why Is So Hard for Windows Users to Understand That Linux Is Not Windows

Gadgets & Tech – This is just a rant (hopefully it will be regarded as pertinent and non-'laming') on why Windows users try Linux and return frustrated to Windows after several hours or days.

Eating Crow [Mandriva Praise]

Gadgets & Tech – I've taken actions to back up those words. I've purchased a Mandriva Power Pack subscription and I've got the DVD burned and ready to install Mandriva 2008 Spring over Ubuntu 8.04.1. In addition to purchasing a Power Pack subscription I also purchased the USB key version. I'm waiting for it to arrive, hopefully sometime next week.

The 'Right' to 'Own' Knowledge

Science – Two people on opposite sides of the world have exactly the same idea at the same time. Which one of those two people would be most morally justified in claiming to own the exclusive rights to that idea? Should it be the first to dash through the doors of the USPTO office, with a big wad of cash in his hand?

Five Reasons Ubuntu is the #1 Linux Distro

Gadgets & Tech – Ubuntu is, according to DistroWatch, the #1 Linux distribution. That's a huge feat in itself. However, once you realize that Ubuntu is only three and a half years old, the feat is much bigger. How did the Linux rookie beat out the nine-year-old Mandrake, the fourteen-year-old SUSE, or the fifteen-year-old Debian?

Beyond the desktop with KDE4

Gadgets & Tech – Again: We are at the begin of this journey. Not everything is available yet, but the technology to make it available is there. My kudos go to Aaron Seigo, lead developer of plasma, and all the others that try to make our personal computers usable again - not dismissing any of the possible usages.

There's Something About Pardus 2008

Gadgets & Tech – In my opinion, Pardus is definitely the best government funded Linux distribution at the moment. I hope our very own Philippine-made Bayanihan Linux in the very near future will at least equal what Pardus has achieved.

Sidux, a Great Alternative to Ubuntu

Gadgets & Tech – Sidux is a new Debian derivative that's still just a baby, born in January 2007. Sidux announced a brand-new release on June 26, Sidux 2008-02, so we're going to kick the tires and take it for a drive, and see what sets it apart from other children of Debian.
