News – Taliban insurgents attacked a prison in Kandahar, allowing more than 1,000 prisoners, including hundreds of militants, to escape. The country is facing an emboldened insurgency, growing unrest, and endemic corruption. NATO assistance did arrive at the scene but they were too late. NATO has pleaded for additional troops over the last year.
