Women prefer Yankees to Mets, says Poll

Sports – Despite the Mets\' fast start this baseball season, the majority of New Yorkers are still Yankee fans--especially women, at 52 to 30 percent--according to this Quinnipiac poll. As a Met fan, I hope this trend continues... I like being the underappreciated underdog. More (pointless) stats at the full story.

The future of beer is here!

Gadgets & Tech – Forget moving sidewalks, postpone the personal jetpacks, throwout the flying cars, this is the future I want to be a part of. The Miller Brewing company will release cans with a newly developed self-cooling technology a little over a year from now. The cans will use vacuum technology to cool the contents up to 30 degrees cooler in a safe, non-toxic and almost instant fashion. Found via www.engadget.com

Digg corrupt and not user driven?

Gadgets & Tech – This is an interesting take on the problems with social bookmarking sites like Digg. People in groups can influence the numbers, as can editors. Here at Netscape, we\'re working hard to keep this site as unfiltered as possible, while being transparent about the editorial finesse that our Anchors provide. Transparency as honesty is our goal.

Enough already, I just want a 17\" MacBook Pro

Gadgets & Tech – I\'m pretty sure rumors of a MacBook Pro with a 17\" screen have been circulating since the moment the original Intel-chipped notebooks arrived in January. According to AppleInsider (and many other rumor sites), the new system will finally make its debut next week at the National Association of Broadcasters conference in Las Vegas. Along with the increase in viewing real estate, the rumors are that the new machine will have faster processors, and increases in memory and storage as well.

Steve Jobs unveils plans for 2nd Apple campus

Gadgets & Tech – With the video that\'s been making the rounds the past couple of days that shows Steve Jobs introducing the very first iPod, it\'s amazing to think about just how much things have changed for Apple in a mere 4 1/2 years. This article, which I found at www.tuaw.com, shows Steve Jobs announcing Apple\'s plans to build a new 50 acre campus next to their current headquarters in Cupertino, California.

Apple remains in control of pricing

Music – For the time being, it looks as though the price of a song in Apple\'s highly successful iTunes music store will remain at $.99. The media giant is in the final stages of renegotiations with the four major record labels, and while the labels have been pushing for variable pricing (to be determined by the popularity of the song) Apple head Steve Jobs has remained adamant about keeping it at it\'s current price point.

Mark Cuban one ups Oprah

Celebrities – Wednesday night at the Dallas Mavericks\' \"Fan Appreciation\" game, Mark Cuban presented every one of the estimated 19,000 fans a voucher for a free flight on Dallas/Ft. Worth based American Airlines. There were a couple of caveats (the vouchers must be converted to tickets by April 30th, and the trips must be complete by November 12th), but overall, the gesture was grand to say the least. $3 Million grand-- the estimated total ticket cost.

Becoming a full-time solo blogger

Gadgets & Tech – I personally know several people working full time as professional bloggers through Weblogs, Inc., but I\'m always curious to see if people who strike out on their own as full time professional bloggers will succeed. John Gruber, who is well known among Apple Macintosh enthusiasts, has decided to take the solo route of blogging as a full time career.

PS3 Grill?

Video Games – I guess it wasn\\\'t enough that the PS3 is already a Blu-Ray player, supports most modern memory card formats and... does something else... what\\\'s that... oh yeah, plays games. Obviously, with the 11 pound heft of it, it\\\'s not that far of a stretch to fry food! Behold, the PS3Grill!

Fifty Screen Display Setup

Gadgets & Tech – While some of us are stoked to have a 24\" monitor, and maybe a secondary 17\" or 19\", these students at UC Irvine have a wall of fifty 30\" cinema displays from Apple. The wall\'s total resolution is 200 megapixels, or 128000 by 80000. Try that for a game of Quake.
