Top 5 Kick-Ass Movies for Girls (No Princesses Allowed)

Family – What movies have ass-kicking, risk-taking female characters who, even if they're not perfect, manage to survive by their smarts and strength, who don't hesitate to give dehabilitating meanies a mental middle finger? Plus a good plot and lots of action? Here are five that came to mind.

Down Syndrome Dolls Freaky (But Not Because of THAT)

Family – Doll makers created 16" plastic dolls with typical facial features of a child with Down syndrome. Some of the dolls have slightly protruding tongues, all have eyes with the upward and outward slant and epicanthal fold. Problem is: the handmade clothing and the hair. I mean, you be the judge. These kids look like crap!

Granny Manual: 8 Things Grandma Should Know About Babies

Family – Things change. I'm sure you've gone a round or two with the prior generation, perhaps even with your own mother, about what you do differently as a parent. Fast Food Eats Your Money

Food – Sure, fast food isn't eating up your budget, since you don't eat it ... ever! But apparently bagged-up, drive-thru fare takes a bigger bite out of every other family's monthly income than stuff we might consider good for kids.

Political Nanny: New Girls May Join Presidential Playgroup

Politics – It's just a matter of when, not if, right? Hillary Clinton will eventually drop out of the race for the White House. Sadly, the above sentiment is often followed by a lament: "if not Hillary, who then? We'll never have a woman in the White House!"

Political Nanny: Obama Tells GOP to 'Lay Off My Wife'

Politics – The GOP fight like little brats. It's true. They're all ad hominem, you-did-it-first, guilt-by-association in making their case (come to think of it, the Dems can get like that, too. But Political Nanny is ranting against the GOP in this particular post).

Bipartisan Dog House: Treats for Conservative, Liberal Pets

Humor – Reach across the aisle and give your four-legged, small government, flat-tax, butt-sniffing Karl Rover a hand-out. Petlane makes tasty peanut butter-flavored biscuits that come in the shape of any conservative canine's favorite political beast -- an Elephant.
