Real Estate – In what is believed to be the most expensive real estate transaction in American history, Metropolitan Life Insurance Company has agreed to sell Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village on Manhattan's East Side for $5.4 billion to an investment group led by Tishman Speyer.

The end of affordable housing in NYC: Stuy Town is sold

Real Estate – In a massive blow to affordable housing in New York City, Peter Cooper Village and Stuyvesant Town - the largest apartment complex in Manhattan (housing some 25,000 people), were sold Tuesday for $5.4 billion dollars. The deal, which will be finalized by year's end, is one of the largest private real-estate transactions in history.
