Autos – Or you can bet that the Earth will run out of oil by 2050, or that tomorrow scientists will develop a $4 gadget that makes the price of gas drop back down to $1. Take that money you were going to use to fill up your tank, and bet it on future gas prices.

Autos – The EPA is still using the 1991 tax schedule and gas guzzler calculation method, despite the EPA's new formula for calculating fuel mileage that's more realistic and thus results in lower MPG ratings across the board. This means the same car that skirted the gas guzzler tax last year could be penalized in 2008, despite the face nothing's changed.

Autos – Exotic carmaker Koenigsegg turned to Quinting to create a line of transparent watches. We don't mean the case is transparent allowing you to see the movement; the movement itself is transparent, each component having been painstakingly crafted from fine-cut sapphire crystal.

Autos – Every Toyota Prius tested has failed the state of Georgia's emissions test because the vehicle is required to idle its engine during the test. The Toyota Prius shuts off its engine instead of idling, so the automated test instantly fails the hybrid car. This presumably affects any car with an engine stop function at idle.

Autos – "I'm gonna pay for that." That's what Alan Mulally said after beginning the now infamous "President Bush almost blew himself up" anecdote in his keynote speech to kick offf the 2007 New York Auto Show last week. Here's video of the actual joke told onstage.

Autos – For seven years, a small band of friends have decided to relive their youth by temporarily shutting down a one-block long portion of Lombard Street -- known as the Most Crooked Street in the World -- to run their childhood conveyance in a spectacular showing of grace and stupidity. It's referred to as BYOBW, or Bring Your Own Big Wheeler.
