Scientology Claims Medal of Valor from NYC Fire Dept.

Religion – The church of Scientology loudly boasts that after 9/11, its "Volunteer Ministers" were awarded the Fire Department of New York's highest honor, the "Medal of Valor." This is not only a lie, but an insult to the memory all the brave firefighters who died in the line of duty and were awarded this Medal posthumously.

Pope concludes Australia visit

Religion – Pope Benedict XVI ended his pilgrimage here today after meeting with two men and two women who were sexually abused as children by priests. The pontiff prayed and spoke with the four in the last hours of his nine-day visit to Australia for the Roman Catholic Church's global youth festival. The abuse scandal was a sour undertone to the trip.

One of world's oldest Bibles to be put online

Religion – One of the world's oldest Bibles, the Codex Sinaiticus, which was discovered in Egypt in the 19th century, is to be made available online this week, the Leipzig University library said Monday. The Codex Sinaiticus, which dates from the fourth century, is one of the two most ancient copies of the entire Bible in Greek.

World's largest confessional staged in Sydney

Religion – At most outdoor festivals the longest queues are generally for the portable toilets and bar but at World Youth Day in Sydney, the Catholic Church's version of Woodstock, one of the biggest queues is for confessing sins. With some 300,000 young Catholic pilgrims attending WYD from July 15-20 the Church is staging the world's largest confessional.
