Politics – In his first overseas interview, Barack Obama told CBS News' Lara Logan that the situation in Afghanistan is "precarious and urgent." With violence rising from a resurgent Taliban, Obama stated that two or three more troop brigades need to be moved into the country.

By taking the initiative, the Republican administration cuts the grass out from under his feet and promotes John McCain.
