Politics – On July 4th, 2004, Nicole and Jeffrey Rank (pictured) were arrested for refusing to remove their anti-Bush T-shirts at a rally at Charleston, West Virginia, where Bush gave a speech. In September of that year the ACLU filed a lawsuit on their behalf. Today the ACLU announced they have settled for $80,000.

Politics – Don't get me wrong, all of Congress is on "recess" right now, as is typical in August. And of course, the Iraqi Parliament is on "recess" as well. But Ronald Reagan has held the dubious record of the most vacation days as president, at 436 days, and Bush seems on track to dethrone him, with 418 and counting.

Do No Evil – A video has surfaced on YouTube of a soldier boasting and laughing about the abuses he committed on Iraqis. Let's not be coy, suggesting that this is Bush's fault, or that this is just the war. This is the logical outcome of male socialization in our imperial core. This started far earlier than the war.
