Okay, I'll admit it: I'm excited about the Hell's Kitchen finale

Television – Ah, Hell's Kitchen is down to its final two, and when hell inflictor-in-chief Gordon Ramsey mused during part of the finale last week that he wasn't sure if he had the best two finalists to run his new West Hollywood restaurant, it was easy to agree that what remained was the least evil of a rather foul-brewed crop.

Steve Rubel: FriendFeed "may even become the next Google"

Gadgets & Tech – A good start, I would think (and the same advice goes to Twitter two or three times over): why not put up some banner ads?

The Obama and McCain campaigns take to the interwebs

Gadgets & Tech – If you're a fan of politics, this year is a gift. After a long and hard fought primary season on the Democratic side, we finally have our general election showdown between Barack Obama and John McCain gearing up.

Web cultist wisdom: FriendFeed, Yahoo, Brad Garrett, AP

Gadgets & Tech – Back when I used to read print publications on a regular basis (seems like so very long ago now!) I enjoyed reading Newsweek cover-to-cover. Based on stories I'm following this morning, I thought I'd try something sort of similar.

Amazon's Kindle and the tipping point

Gadgets & Tech – The Kindle already accounts for six percent of Amazon book sales that are available in print and electronic editions. In five years, it may not be a stretch to predict slapping a zero on the back of that six.

And then there were two ("long-term winners"): Google and Amazon

Gadgets & Tech – The term "long-term winner" and narrowing it down to a select group of only two companies can be dangerous and misleading. The truth is there are many (many thousands perhaps?) of highly successful long-term Internet businesses.

Out come the interactive maps, election 2008 style

Politics – Now that the Democratic nomination has come to a close with Tuesday's final primaries and news that Hillary Clinton will (finally!) concede to Barack Obama on Saturday, the general election interactive maps pitting Obama against Republican nominee John McCain are popping out all over the place.

The online video revolution will be televisedââ;¬Â¦ on television

Television – Video on demand is a killer app of our age. The ability to watch a video (TV show or movie or an online video) on your television screen when you want to watch it, without worrying about and especially paying for programming that you don't want, is inches away from being a reality for millions in the U.S. and worldwide.

Borders' new online storefront looks pretty good

Money – The next step for the web is to simulate the best parts about our favorite real world stores, and Borders' new website is an interesting experiment in this direction.

Are social news sites like Digg useful anymore?

Gadgets & Tech – You could argue that the Digg community is stronger than ever and that these are the stories that the community chooses to vote for and showcase on its famous front page. However, I'd argue that Digg is increasingly becoming a place to browse idly as you're about to glaze over at your work desk and you're desperate for a few seconds of distraction.

How will Twitter ever make money?

Gadgets & Tech – Why not just put a leaderboard banner ad across the top of the page and perhaps a skyscraper ad underneath each person's friends in the right column?

Gadgets threaten the Internet's future? Ridiculous

Gadgets & Tech – Yep, if it wasn't for all those Blackberries and blogs, the Internet might really be something, you know?
