Hiroshima and Nagasaki, "Never Again"

Do No Evil – "Terror struck me, and I felt that I had to go home. The place around the Tsurumi bridge was crowded with many injured people. They held their arms aloft in front of them. Their hair stood on end. They were groaning and cursing. With pain in their eyes and furious looks on their faces, they were crying out for their mothers to help them."

The end of the culture wars?

Politics – Hot-button politics has turned out to be cumulatively disastrous for America. Politicians warred over narrow, symbolic issues while real problems that didn't fit the culture war paradigm - lack of access to healthcare, global warming, the US occupation of Iraq grew and festered. Have the electorate finally had enough of the BS?

High gas prices threaten to shut down rural towns

Money – This community may be an extreme example of how rising gas prices are hitting rural Americans particularly hard, but people in small towns from Maine to Alaska are in a similar bind as those here.

Do No Evil – Joe Biden: "The high price of oil is a gift to the American People." Here's what Harry Reid says. Dems' mission: Radical restructuring of the U.S. economy to remove hydrocarbons from the energy mix. Could they have stated the mission any more succinctly? Will the Dems go nuclear or are they intent on bringing us to our knees and lower

Google Shutting down Anti-Obama Websites?

Do No Evil – Sure looks that way although the fault may lie with an organized attempt by Obama activists to silence blogs that disagree with their candidate. The key to the shutdowns is found in the corner of every Google "Blogspot"..........

Engaging Theism and Creationism

Religion – A scientific world-view entails atheism and thus contradicts Creationism. I am relatively sanguine when it comes to scientists who believe in God, as opposed to the much greater alarm I exhibit toward scientists who espouse Creationism. I believe that the battle against Creationism will be won, just as the battle against Geocentrism was won.
