My Profile:
bluetexasvalley
I am a 60-plus widow, recently retired after almost 40 years in the newspaper business. My love of politics was learned, first, from my father, a small-town Justice of the Peace for 18 years, then, my husband, a national award-winning reporter and White House Press Corps member for the Houston Post. I met and married him when he came to South Texas, having bought several small papers.
Like most Deep South Texas residents, I am a lifelong Democrat, but that is not etched in stone; I am open to other parties' candidates if I deem them better qualified.
15 Minutes of Fame: First woman elected to my city council.
I joined Propeller to learn more -- about everything. My life's motto is: A day without learning something new is a wasted day.
"When I gave food to the poor, they called me a saint. When I asked why the poor were hungry, they called me a communist." -- Dom Helder Camara
"Blessed are they who run around in circles, for they shall be known as wheels." --Author Unknown
Hobbies / Interests
I am a voracious reader, love gardening and embroidering, and am also a big movie buff, since that was my father's business. Love classical and country music. My first love was James Dean, followed by Elvis Presley. As an adult, my idols have been Barbara Jordan, Ann Richards and Molly Ivins. And, of course, I spend hours and hours on Propeller

I've always been a big fan of Dom Helder Camara & Mother Teresa. Love your comments on articles throughout Propeller. Another quote to share.
"The success of love is in the loving - it is not in the result of loving. Of course it is natural in love to want the best for the other person, but whether it turns out that way or not does not determine the value of what we have done."
Mother Teresa

Hi BTV! There is one positive about this site, it forces you to go to the profiles of your friends. I've never read your profile before this morning, I am duly impressed. You've had an amazing life. I love Propeller for affording me the opportunity to learn so much about so many fantastic people. I never dreamed there would be so many fascinating people in one place. <p>((((BTV))))

An old saying that I told kids when I coached was... "Its what you learn after you know it all that counts"......I guess you are never too old for that one
