Health & Fitness – Last week\'s issue of TIME magazine had a scathing article (\"Q: What Scares Doctors? A: Being the Patient\") about the dangers of going to the hospital. Stuff like an industry-accepted recommendation to not get sick in July because that\'s when all the brand-new interns start their rotations. In this article the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that \"Each year 90,000 people die after picking up a bacterial infection in a hospital.\"

Gay & Lesbian – Just last week it was Illinois that was discriminating, calling for a state-wide ban on same-sex unions of any kind. Now \"the other \'I\'\" state,\" Indiana, wants to keep us from adopting children. Some folks just have too much time on their hands...

Music – MySpace apparently has rights to use in any manner they want whatever you post to your MySpace site. Artists beware!

News – In his angry commentary on the \"life without parole\" verdict of the Moussaoui trial, Michael Smerconnish calls the jury \"sissyfied.\" Cool. So, the next time he THINKS about killing someone at work or on the street who annoys him, we\'ll just send him to the gas chamber. No trial necessary \'cause this is a country that needs to execute folks for not actually DOING anything. Way to miss the point, Mike. Vive la revolution!

News – \"The government does not listen to domestic phone calls without court approval,\" said Bush. They just collect them so that they can listen later, after that pesky court-order comes through.

News – So, the wire-tapping included domestic calls, apparently. You and me. Yup. Your evening of phone sex with your significant other last week is now part of government record. Owned by the NSA. Let\'s pretend for a second that things actually CAN\'T get any worse, then let\'s pinch ourselves and politely ask the Canadians if they have any room in the Northern Territories.

News – So, the Vatican seems like it really wants to tick off the masses. And i\'m talking MASSES. Of Chinese catholics. Not content with barring gays and lesbians (or, I\'m assuming, bisexuals or transsexuals) from it\'s ranks, the Holy See recently excommunicated two Chinese bishops. Makes you wonder about thier math, doesn\'t it? Largest population in the world; 10 million catholics...?

Gay & Lesbian – This from the state that\'s so proud of it\'s \"Not In Our Town\" anti-racism and - oops! - statewide hate crime programs. Contradiction\'s a drag (not dragQUEEN), isn\'t it? PHOTO CREDIT: Nadav Benjamin, \"Scotty The Blue Bunny.\"

Health & Fitness – Seniors are still getting punished for growing old. By May 15 seniors must sign up for a new Medicare drug program, called \"Part D,\" that\'s unfair, inappropriate, aggressive and abusive, leaps tall ethics standards in a single bound, and pillages as it goes. Careers & Jobs – Well, ouch. If you\'re an artist or can\'t pay for higher education then this list leaves you in the cold. Basically, the list implies that we, as a nation, are litigious, bad with money, disorganized, and sick all the time and that you should try to exploit that if you\'re looking for a job. And then there\'s the passing-understanding need for Producers and Directors. Clearly, someone hasn\'t been able to get Spielberg to return their calls. Seriously, though, the list seems to say that if you can crunch numbers, are a bit of a techie, or can be in a position of some leadership, you\'re bound to do well over the next few years.

Women – Sexual harrassment and racism are often encouraged in the military and it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s been that way for a very long time. Veteran sadistic officers will say the techniques will help build better soldiers. Sadly, no one tells that to the non-Whites, females, and homosexuals when they sign up.
